Professor Bernie Conway

Trustee

I am a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde and serve as Associate Dean for Research within the Faculty of Engineering.

I joined the Board of Trustees at Medical Research Scotland in 2013 and bring expertise in translational and multidisciplinary research to the board. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to have trained and worked with creative people with diverse backgrounds and interests and I very much value how collaborative working across disciplines helps to stimulate new thinking, knowledge and opportunities. By working as a scientific member of the Board of Trustees I am able to contribute to policies that meet Medical Research Scotland’s objectives to nurture, support and train talented people from diverse backgrounds and to sponsor research that can create health and economic benefit. As a Trustee, an important aspect of my role is also to critically evaluate the effectiveness and success of our programmes, to maintain a dialogue with our constituents and to ensure that the work we fund is of value to all our stakeholders.
