Professor Jenny Woof Trustee I am Professor of Biology and Associate Dean for Quality and Academic Standards in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. I became a Trustee of Medical Research Scotland in 2014. Having earlier been a recipient of an award from Medical Research Scotland I was keen to give something back, and first became involved as a presenter at one the Trust’s ‘Meet the Researcher Showcase’ events. These annual events, together with the PhD studentship programme that offers unique training opportunities through close collaboration between industrial and academic partners, are some of the ways that Medical Research Scotland helps to inspire and fund people to pursue careers in medical research. The opportunity to play a part in encouraging the next generation of medical researchers, together with promoting schemes to enhance understanding of human disease and identify new and better ways to diagnose and treat it, are the key features that attracted me to the Trusteeship role.
