Professor John Brown

Trustee and Member of the Audit and Investment Committee

I am a neuropharmacologist by training. Since completing my PhD I have worked in the biomedical industry in a variety of roles. My experience covers pharmaceuticals, vaccines, diagnostics and medical devices. Since 2004 I have had a portfolio career in both the public and private sectors, serving as a Chairman or Non-Executive Director. Currently, I am Chairman of Synpromics Ltd in Edinburgh and The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult in London. In the charitable sector, in addition to serving as a Trustee for Medical Research Scotland, I am Chairman of the Roslin Foundation and Treasurer of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

I have been incredibly fortunate to have a fascinating career in life sciences and I hope that the work of Medical Research Scotland will offer similar opportunities to many others. Our participation in the Daphne Jackson scheme to support returners to work is particularly interesting to me.
