Defining novel G protein-coupled receptor targets in neurodegeneration University of Glasgow Past award Student: David Sjonell : University of Glasgow Year Award Started: 2018 In this study, we will use mice whose brain cells are progressively dying, similar to what happens in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This project focuses on a particular protein in the brain, which is proposed to be involved in AD, and as such could be a potential target for new drugs. This project aims to investigate if the amount of this protein and the specific signals that this protein sends are altered in disease. This may provide important information as to whether this protein is a viable drug target in the treatment of diseases associated with progressive death of brain cells.
