Design and synthesis of three dimensional fragments University of Dundee Past award Student: Tommi Muili : University of St Andrews Year Award Started: 2018 This project is to design and make novel, never made before, small molecules as prototype drugs. These compounds will be used by the DDU’s projects to identify if they give a start point for a drug discovery project (in areas including malaria, cancer) and then seek to optimise then towards a drug. The project will train the student in a number of aspects of chemistry, both theoretical and practical, and drug discovery. The person will work in a laboratory with very experienced scientist, many who have worked in the pharmaceutical industry increasing their ability to learn.
