The impact of heart failure and atrial fibrillation on clinically relevant stroke outcomes University of Aberdeen Past award Student: Tiberiu Pana : University of Aberdeen Year Award Started: 2018 Patients with heart failure and irregular heart rhythms have an increased chance of stroke. In this project, we propose to examine the effect that these conditions, both independently and in combination, may have on the clinical course of patients who have suffered a stroke. We will be assessing relevant outcomes, such as mortality and stroke recurrence. Our study will provide comprehensive information regarding the association between these pre-existing heart diseases and the prognosis after a stroke. This may lead to tailored management and therefore better outcomes for such patients in daily clinical practice.
