2019 Researcher Development Event

There was a new name, the Researcher Development Event, for the 2019 annual gathering in April of PhD Students. This better reflects the breadth of the programme covered at the events, where students are exposed to both academic and commercial experts and career development opportunities. As well as a new name, a new programme was delivered, which included the students preparing group presentations at the event, which they delivered in innovative and entertaining ways – well done to them all.

The students shared experiences about their research and enthusiastically took part in a ceilidh and outdoor activities, including archery, volleyball, tug-of-war and retro space-hopping, which were a great success, particularly given Perthshire’s sun shone down on us.

Special thanks go to Professor Andy Porter, Professor of Medical Biotechnology and Director of the Scottish Biologics Facility and Dr Michael Roberts, Chief Scientific Officer of Synpromics and Trustee of Medical Research Scotland for their informative talks on Intellectual Property and input to the event.
