Mrs Fiona Gillespie

Trustee and Member of Audit and Investment Committee

I am an Investment Director, and Head of Charities for Scotland at Rathbones Investment Management. Our firm manages investment portfolios for a vast range of clients, with over £9bn for charities across the UK. I have been fortunate in having a long career in the investment industry, with over 30 years experience, including working at Aberdeen Asset Management, Edinburgh Fund Managers and Anderson Strathern Asset Management prior to my current role.

In my professional role I work with charities in all forms, across a variety of industries, selecting investments for them, managing portfolios and providing broad support for Trustees and executives as they aim to make best use of their investments to meet their charitable purposes. I consider myself extremely lucky to contribute in that small way to the work of some wonderful organisations.

In addition to Medical Research Scotland, I am a Trustee of Stafford Trust, the Baird Educational Trust and Hub Community. I am also passionate in encouraging young people to fulfil their potential, no matter their gender or background, so I am delighted to be a member of the Steering Committee for Future Asset. Future Asset aims to encourage and support senior school girls into a career in financial services, which remains a male dominated sector, although steps are being made to improve this.

I am privileged to be a Trustee of MRS with the opportunity to ultimately support students fulfil their research careers, and building our talent pool across Scottish universities.
