Professor Martin Denvir Trustee I am a Professor of Medical Cardiology (FRCP, BSc, PhD) at the University of Edinburgh and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. I became a Trustee of Medical Research Scotland in 2021, having earlier been awarded a PhD Studentship. I am an academic cardiologist with clinical expertise in heart failure, palliative care, coronary heart disease, coronary intervention and inherited cardiac conditions. My research interests span from laboratory to bedside addressing heart development and immune cell responses in zebrafish to clinical heart failure and palliative care. I am actively involved in teaching, education and administration across the University of Edinburgh and National Health Service and have a national and international reputation with numerous book chapters and publications in top tier journals with a notable grant award portfolio. I also have considerable experience in clinical trials as a Principal investigator and as a member and chair of various trial steering and management committees, data monitoring and clinical endpoint committees. I am pleased to be able to bring my breadth of clinical and laboratory research expertise to the Board of Trustees and help drive the missions of Medical Research Scotland forward.
